在 San Francisco 時間 2007/09/05（GMT +8 時間 2001/09/06），Apple 在「The Beat Goes On」產品發表會上發表了次世代的音樂播放器— iPod touch，它是 iPod 家族中功能最齊全的裝置，甚至可以稱為沒有電話功能的 iPhone，而現時 iPod touch 更是銷量最高的 iPod。
